We Love Brampton is an independent local discovery and community information platform created to help people find events, businesses, activities, resources, stories and useful information about Brampton, Ontario.
We take privacy, accuracy, transparency and responsible use of information seriously. This policy explains how We Love Brampton collects and uses information, how we work with public and third-party data, how artificial intelligence may be used, the standards that apply to submissions and community participation, and the rights of people and businesses appearing on the platform.
By accessing or using welovebrampton.ca, submitting information to us, subscribing to communications, or otherwise interacting with We Love Brampton, you acknowledge this policy.
1. About We Love Brampton
We Love Brampton is an independent community platform.
We are not the City of Brampton, an agency of the City of Brampton, the Region of Peel, Brampton Library, Brampton Transit, Experience Brampton, or any other government agency unless a specific partnership is expressly identified.
References or links to municipal departments, government services, businesses, organizations or community groups do not imply sponsorship, endorsement or official affiliation.
Where we work with an organization as an official content, advertising or community partner, that relationship may be identified on the relevant page.
2. Privacy Principles
We aim to handle personal information responsibly and in a manner consistent with applicable Canadian privacy legislation, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, or PIPEDA, where it applies.
Our approach is based on simple principles: collect only what is reasonably necessary, explain why information is being collected, use information for legitimate purposes, protect it appropriately, keep it only as long as reasonably necessary, and give individuals reasonable ways to ask questions, access their information or request corrections.
We Love Brampton does not sell personal information for money.
3. Information You Give Us
You may voluntarily provide information when you contact us, subscribe to a newsletter, submit an event, submit or claim a business listing, share a community story, enter a promotion, respond to a survey, advertise with us, report an error or communicate with our team.
Depending on the interaction, this may include your name, business or organization name, email address, telephone number, social media or website links, event information, business information, photographs, descriptions, messages and other information you choose to provide.
Please do not send sensitive personal information unless it is genuinely necessary and we have specifically requested it.
4. Information Collected Automatically
When you visit We Love Brampton, certain technical information may be collected automatically by our website, hosting provider, security services, analytics tools or similar technology.
This can include your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, approximate geographic area, pages viewed, links clicked, date and time of access, session information and information used to detect spam, fraud, abuse or security threats.

We endeavour to select reputable providers and use reasonable contractual, technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information involved.
11. Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, to operate the platform, resolve disputes, maintain appropriate business records, meet legal obligations and protect legitimate interests.
Information that is no longer reasonably required may be deleted, anonymized or securely disposed of.
Public business or event information may remain in archived content where there is a legitimate editorial, historical or record-keeping reason for retaining it.
12. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and organizational measures intended to protect information against unauthorized access, use, modification, disclosure, loss or destruction.
However, no website, internet transmission, database or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Users should therefore avoid submitting highly sensitive information through ordinary website forms or email unless necessary.
If we become aware of a privacy or security incident requiring notification under applicable law, we will take appropriate steps.
PUBLIC DATA AND CITY OF BRAMPTON INFORMATION
13. Use of City of Brampton Information
We Love Brampton may use or reference information originating from the City of Brampton, including information made available through Brampton GeoHub, Open Data services, municipal directories, event calendars, public notices, transit information and other publicly accessible sources.
Use of City data does not mean that We Love Brampton is affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by the City of Brampton.
Where information is obtained from a City of Brampton open dataset, We Love Brampton intends to follow the licence and attribution requirements associated with that particular dataset.
Different datasets may carry different terms. We do not assume that everything appearing on Brampton.ca is automatically open data or freely reusable.
Where a dataset requires attribution, We Love Brampton will provide reasonable source attribution. Where reuse, redistribution, resale, modification or commercial use is restricted, we will respect those restrictions.
Whenever appropriate, users will be provided with a link to the original or authoritative source.
14. City Website Content Is Not Automatically Open Data
Ordinary webpages, photographs, graphics, articles, maps, logos, videos and other materials appearing on City websites may be subject to copyright, trademark or other rights even when they are publicly viewable.
We Love Brampton may link to, summarize, reference or quote limited portions of such information where legally permitted, but public availability alone should not be interpreted as permission to reproduce the entire work.
We will distinguish between information released specifically as open data and other protected content.
15. City of Brampton Name, Logo and Branding
References to the “City of Brampton” are used descriptively when identifying the source of municipal information.
The City of Brampton name, corporate logo, crest and other official branding remain the property of their respective owners.
We Love Brampton will not intentionally use City branding in a way that suggests that We Love Brampton is an official municipal website or has City approval where no such approval exists.
16. Municipal Information May Change
Government information, schedules, facility details, transit information, events, road information, programs, contact information and other public data can change after publication.
We Love Brampton may summarize, organize or display information obtained from official sources, but users should verify important details through the relevant official organization before making decisions.
For emergencies, official notices, legal requirements, permits, municipal services, elections, public safety, transit disruptions or other time-sensitive matters, the official government source should be treated as authoritative.
OTHER PUBLIC AND THIRD-PARTY INFORMATION
17. Events, Businesses and Community Information
We Love Brampton may obtain factual information from event organizers, businesses, community groups, public websites, publicly accessible social media pages, government databases, licensed datasets, APIs, RSS feeds, public announcements and direct submissions.
Examples include business names, addresses, telephone numbers, operating hours, websites, event dates, venues, publicly advertised prices and descriptions of publicly promoted events or services.
We may reorganize, summarize, categorize or supplement this information to make it easier to discover.
We do not claim ownership of third-party trademarks, photographs, copyrighted descriptions or other protected material merely because they appear publicly online.
18. Corrections and Claiming Listings
We want listings to be useful and accurate.
Business owners, event organizers and organizations may contact us to request a correction, identify inaccurate information, update public details or inquire about claiming a listing.
We may request reasonable verification before making material changes to a listing.
A request to remove information will be considered in light of privacy, legal, editorial, public-interest and licensing considerations. Publicly available factual information will not necessarily be removed solely because it is publicly searchable elsewhere, but legitimate privacy and safety concerns will be taken seriously.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
19. How We May Use AI
We Love Brampton may use artificial intelligence and automated tools to help operate and improve the platform.
AI may assist with categorizing events, detecting duplicate listings, summarizing publicly available information, generating tags, suggesting headings, improving grammar, translating text, helping organize submitted information, identifying possible spam, assisting research, creating draft content or supporting editorial workflows.
AI is intended to assist people, not replace responsible editorial judgment.
20. Human Review and Accuracy
AI systems can make mistakes, misunderstand context or generate inaccurate information.
Material factual content created or substantially transformed with AI should therefore be reviewed where reasonably practical before publication, particularly when it concerns public safety, government information, businesses, individuals, elections or other sensitive subjects.
We will make reasonable efforts not to present invented AI-generated details as verified facts.
When AI has played a material role in creating content and disclosure would meaningfully help readers understand how that content was produced, We Love Brampton may provide an AI disclosure or editorial note.
21. AI and Personal Information
We do not intend to provide confidential or highly sensitive personal information to public-facing AI systems merely for experimentation.
Where AI providers process information on our behalf, we will consider the nature of the information, the purpose of the processing and the privacy and security controls available.
User-submitted content may be processed using automated systems for purposes such as moderation, categorization, spam detection, summarization, formatting or editorial assistance.
We will not intentionally use confidential or sensitive personal information submitted to We Love Brampton to train a public-facing AI model without appropriate authorization.
22. Automated Decisions
We Love Brampton does not intend to rely solely on AI to make decisions that have significant legal, financial, employment, housing, healthcare or similarly serious effects on an individual.
Where automated tools assist moderation, ranking, categorization or fraud detection, human review may be used when appropriate.
Users may contact us if they believe an automated system has materially misrepresented them or their organization.
23. AI-Generated Images and Media
AI-generated or AI-modified images may occasionally be used for illustration, concept art or promotional design.
AI-generated media should not be represented as an authentic photograph of a real event, person, business or location where doing so could reasonably mislead viewers.
Where the distinction is important, synthetic or materially AI-generated imagery may be labelled.
SUBMISSIONS AND USER CONTENT
24. Your Content
If you submit text, photographs, video, event details, business information, reviews, announcements, logos or other material to We Love Brampton, you retain any ownership rights you legally hold in that content.
By submitting content for publication, you give We Love Brampton a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, resize, format, edit for clarity, publish, distribute, display and promote that content in connection with We Love Brampton and its related channels.
This permission continues for content already published or incorporated into archived material unless otherwise agreed or legally required.
25. Your Responsibility for Submissions
You should only submit material that you have the right to provide.
By submitting content, you represent that, to the best of your knowledge, you have the necessary rights or permission and that publication will not unlawfully infringe another person’s copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity or other legal rights.
If photographs or videos prominently feature identifiable individuals, particularly children, you are responsible for obtaining appropriate permission where required.
COMMUNITY CODE OF CONDUCT
26. Community Standards
We Love Brampton is intended to be useful, welcoming and locally focused.
Content, submissions, reviews, comments or communications must not unlawfully threaten, harass or stalk another person; publish private personal information without proper authority; impersonate another person or organization; promote fraud or scams; contain malicious software; unlawfully discriminate against protected groups; encourage violence or criminal activity; intentionally spread dangerous misinformation; infringe intellectual-property rights; contain unlawful defamatory material; or otherwise violate applicable law.
Spam, deceptive advertising, fake reviews, coordinated manipulation and attempts to artificially influence rankings or public perception may also be rejected or removed.
27. Reviews and Allegations About Businesses or Individuals
We welcome legitimate community information, but We Love Brampton is not intended as a venue for personal vendettas or unsupported allegations.
Users should describe genuine experiences accurately and avoid presenting speculation as fact.
We may decline to publish, edit, temporarily hide or remove content where there is a credible concern involving defamation, harassment, privacy, safety, impersonation, authenticity or legal rights.
28. Moderation
We Love Brampton may review, reject, edit, restrict, remove or decline to publish submitted material.
Moderation decisions may consider relevance, quality, accuracy, safety, legal risk, duplication, spam, community value and compliance with these standards.
The fact that we moderate some content does not mean that we can review or verify everything submitted to the platform.
Publication does not necessarily mean endorsement.
EDITORIAL INDEPENDENCE, ADVERTISING AND SPONSORSHIP
29. Editorial Independence
Our goal is to distinguish editorial information from paid promotion.
Businesses, advertisers, sponsors or partners should not be permitted to purchase favourable editorial conclusions about themselves without disclosure.
Where content is sponsored, paid, promoted or commercially influenced in a material way, we intend to identify it using wording such as “Sponsored,” “Paid Partnership,” “Promoted,” “Advertisement” or another reasonably clear disclosure.
30. Featured and Paid Listings
We Love Brampton may offer paid, featured or enhanced business and event listings.
Payment may affect placement, visibility or promotional features where clearly disclosed, but it does not constitute an endorsement, certification or guarantee by We Love Brampton.
Businesses remain responsible for their own products, services, licences, claims, prices, availability and customer relationships.
COPYRIGHT AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
31. We Love Brampton Content
Unless otherwise indicated, original We Love Brampton branding, editorial content, page design, graphics, databases, compilations and other original material are owned by or licensed to We Love Brampton and may be protected by copyright, trademark or other intellectual-property laws.
You may share links to our pages and use ordinary website sharing functions.
Substantial reproduction, systematic scraping, republishing, resale or creation of a competing database from protected We Love Brampton content may require prior permission unless otherwise allowed by law or an applicable open licence.
32. Third-Party Rights
Names, logos, photographs, trademarks, articles and other materials belonging to businesses, organizations, government bodies, photographers, contributors or other third parties remain the property of their respective owners.
Appearance on We Love Brampton does not transfer ownership to us.
If you believe material on the site infringes your intellectual-property rights, contact us with sufficient information to identify the material and explain your claim.
ACCURACY, LINKS AND DISCLAIMERS
33. Accuracy
We try to provide useful and reasonably accurate information, but We Love Brampton cannot guarantee that every listing, date, price, address, operating hour, event, service, promotion or third-party statement is complete, current or error-free.
Events may be cancelled. Businesses may close or change hours. Programs, government information and transportation schedules may change.
Users should confirm important information directly with the organizer, business or official source.

We Love Brampton contains links to third-party websites.
A link is provided for convenience or reference and does not automatically constitute endorsement.
We do not control third-party websites and are not responsible for their content, security, availability, accessibility, products, services or privacy practices.
When you leave welovebrampton.ca, the privacy policy and terms of the destination website apply.
35. General Information Only
Content on We Love Brampton is provided for general community and informational purposes.
It should not be treated as professional legal, financial, medical, immigration, emergency or other regulated professional advice.
For emergencies or urgent public-safety matters, contact the appropriate emergency service or official authority.
CHILDREN
36. Children’s Privacy
We Love Brampton may publish information about family activities and youth programs, but the website is intended primarily for a general audience and is not designed to intentionally collect sensitive personal information directly from young children.
Parents, guardians, schools, clubs and event organizers should exercise appropriate care when submitting names, photographs or other information concerning minors.
We may remove information concerning a child where there is a legitimate privacy or safety concern.
